WESTONBIRT LEISURE PEDALS FOR PROPS

This June, 60 intrepid cyclists will attempt to travel 500 miles from Bristol to its twin town of Bordeaux, France.

The challenge, now in its fourth year, will take 4 days and requires a huge amount of commitment and determination from the participants.  Riders may choose from 2 distances: a ‘classic’ 300 or an ‘extreme’ 500 mile journey.

Two of the cyclists, Tom Redpath and Luke Bedwell, have began training and look forward to their first cycling challenge.  The pair, who are both staff at Westonbirt Leisure Centre at Westonbirt Schools near Tetbury, are actively fundraising in order to secure their place on the trip. “We are extremely apprehensive but enormously excited about the challenge” say the cyclists.  £600 is required with all sponsorship going towards PROPS, a centre devoted to providing opportunities and support to young people with learning difficulties. The Westonbirt Leisure employees were approached by an Ambassador of the charity who is also a member at the sports centre, although we’re told the pair, who are already keen cyclists, did not need much persuading!

Tom and Luke have created an account with JustGiving, and welcome any support and donations.  If you wish to sponsor the cyclists, please log on to www.justgiving.com/TomRedpath or http://www.justgiving.com/Luke-Bedwell .

Meanwhile, we wish the pair plenty of luck with the gruelling training that lies ahead, not forgetting the 500 mile journey that awaits!
