15th October:  Young business entrepreneur, Jamie Murray Wells, gave a fascinating insight into how he set up his business, Glasses Direct, while still at University.  All the girls from Years 10 - 13 attended the lecture, along with members of the public, who attended this inspirational talk (free of charge).

Despite  pressure from leading high street retailers who tried to stop him, Jamie pursued his idea of selling glasses online at a fraction of the cost of high street retailers and Glasses Direct is now the largest online retailer of prescription glasses in the world.  Jamie explained how he had also set up another business, Hearing Direct, in February 2010, sellling hearing aids online.

At the end of the lecture, Jamie took questions from the floor from the girls and the public.

The girls, many of whom are studying Business and Economics or take part in the 'Young Enterprise' scheme, found Jamie's lecture highly motivating.
