FINE WIT AND WORDS AT CAMBRIDGE SCHOOLS DEBATE

Two Westonbirt teams took part in the first round of the Cambridge Schools Debating Competition in Cardiff, and were praised by the judges for their extensive vocabulary and subtle use of humour.

Drawn against local boys' school Marling for a prepared debate, one team opposed the motion "This House Would Ban the Consumption of Meat" then had to contend with the unprepared theme that "This House would Ban Extreme Political Parties".  Both teams were pipped at the post but gave fine performances.

We are now looking forward to the Oxford Schools Debating Competition in Bristol in February, again with Marling, where we shall be seeking revenge...
