Westonbirt School's Mission
Westonbirt School enables every girl to achieve her full potential, instilling confidence without arrogance. We balance the academic, cultural and recreational within a strong spiritual framework in an inspiring, rural setting.
Westonbirt School is an all girls’ boarding and day school in the Cotswolds providing education to approximately 220 girls aged 11 – 18. Around two thirds of the girls are boarders. Rose Hill Westonbirt Preparatory Day School and Nursery is on the same site and provides co-education to pupils aged 3 -11. The Head of Westonbirt School chairs the Westonbirt Management Team which takes an overview of both schools, and the Heads work together very closely. Westonbirt School welcomes pupils of all nationalities and international pupils are fully integrated into all aspects of life at Westonbirt. 'International Day' at Westonbirt School is a very popular annual event, where pupils are given the opportunity to showcase their country and culture.
The school is set in 210 acres of stunning grounds, an idyllic and historic setting for education, whilst also offering a range of first class facilities including a new Sixth Form Centre, a DT, Art, IT and Science Centre and a £3m Leisure Centre.
Background
Westonbirt School was founded in 1928 by the Reverend Percy Warrington, Secretary of the Martyrs’ Memorial and Church of England Trust, through the purchase of Westonbirt House from the Holford family. Other schools were founded in a similar manner, and are with Westonbirt grouped together in the Allied Schools Group, the body empowered by the Trust to oversee the Group’s activities. Westonbirt retains links with the other schools in the Group, and like them enjoys strategic, financial and operational autonomy. The other schools in the group are Canford, Harrogate Ladies’ College, Stowe and Wrekin College. The House, gardens and parkland are listed grade 1, and all contain magnificent features of great beauty and renown.
