The Headmistress’s motto is “work hard, play hard, rest hard” – and she makes sure that there are plenty of opportunities for socialising at school for girls of all ages.
The county of Gloucestershire is famous in the UK for its active social life, and Westonbirt girls have a great social life too. Every weekend there is a busy social programme open to daygirls as well as boarders. This is constantly revised to reflect the girls’ current enthusiasms and interests. There are many socials in school, with some suitable for all age groups, with parties from boys’ schools invited to join us for discos, dinner debates and seasonal occasions such as St Andrew’s Night Reels. Some of these events are organised by the girls themselves, such as the Sixth Form Charity Ball in the Autumn and the Sixth Form Leavers Ball in July. Girls are often invited to join events organised for adults too, such as the Music at Westonbirt concerts, the Westonbirt Lectures, and Friends’ events such as Murder Mystery Nights. They also help host public events such as Drinks Parties and are often to be seen at social events at our near neighbours, the Beaufort Polo Club and Westonbirt Arboretum, which are both renowned throughout the UK and internationally.
