Best School Facilities and Resources

Westonbirt School has been greatly developed since its founding in a former stately home to introduce the best facilities for academic subjects and extensive resources for extra-curricular activities such as sport, music, art and drama.

Art Studios
We have three purpose-built art studios in the light and airy modern block built in the 1980s, plus a History of Art room with facilities for viewing slide shows and films.

Camellia House
Beautifully restored Victorian glasshouse, ideal for small intimate music concerts and social gatherings.

Careers Centre
Our well-stocked Careers Centre includes a comprehensive, up-to-the-minute specialist library in all aspects of life beyond school, with resources on all current university courses and career options.

Chapel
Formerly the ancient Parish Church, now the School’s Chapel of St Catherine, restored and tastefully redecorated for use for school worship and for music recitals.

Golf Course
Our peaceful private 9-hole golf course is the ideal site for beginners to learn and for improvers to master the game, with the beautiful backdrop of Westonbirt House and its gardens.

Libraries
A range of libraries and resource rooms for prep and private study. Historic, newly restored Victorian gentleman’s Library in main building, plus adjacent cosy Fiction Library, college-style Sixth Form Study Centre in the Sixth Form House, and on-site Bookshop.

Orangery Theatre
A 450-capacity theatre with vast fixed stage, new lighting board, two-tier seating (flexible so that we can also stage performances in the round), opening on to a natural stage in the gardens. The adjacent green room and rehearsal room complete these excellent drama facilities, also invaluable for musical events.

Playing Fields, Sports Pitches & Courts
Extensive playing fields on site for team games and athletics, plus many hard and grass courts, all immediately adjacent to the main school building, offering extensive and convenient PE resources.

Science Laboratories
Large purpose-built modern science labs, one for each of the main science subjects, plus a spare and two prep rooms, with ample bench space and equipment for all girls.

Sports Centre
Supplementing our extensive outdoor sports facilities, the £3m new Copland Sports Centre, with sports hall, 25m indoor pool, aerobics and dance room and fitness suite. Tuck Shop
Open for carefully limited periods with a maximum spend set for each girl to encourage responsible use!

Uniform Shop
On site and run by Badminton Housemistress Miss Fry, providing easy access to new and secondhand uniform items throughout the term as required.
