The school is delighted to welcome back two former pupils as members of staff. Maija Calvert, leaver of 2001, and Rose Farquhar, also a leaver from 2001, have both recently taken up positions as Assistant House Mistresses.
Lulu Coldrey, who left in 1999, has established herself as an artist, undertaking portraits of pets and wildlife, and will be exhibiting her work in London in April and May. The opening night of her exhibition at the Southfields Art Gallery (223 Wimbledon Park Road) will take place on Thursday 29th April. I am sure that she would be delighted to receive your support. For more information on Lulu's work and to find out about the exhibition visit her website: www.lucindacoldreyart.com
Hermione Berry, who left in 2001, came back to speak to our pupils about her flourishing jewellery business, www.hermionejewellery.co.uk. She specialises in wedding jewellery and anyone currently planning their special day should check out her website! In addition she has been awarded the prestigious prize of "Best Hair Accessory" from Wedding Awards 2010.
2003 leaver Tant Bhirombhakdhi returned especially to present a generous donation to Westonbirt School Foundation. The girls were fascinated to hear about her work as PA to the Prime Minister of Thailand. Tant is pictured here with Dorchester Housemistress Miss Sally Gould.
Another successful former pupil who has come to out attention is Gina Stewart-Cox, leaver of 2005, who has established her own business selling uniqe jewellery. For further details visit Gina's website: www.ginastewartcox.com
Clemmie-Dalrymple-Hamilton, who left in 2007, visited to tell the girls about the Morocco Hitch, a charity project with which she is involved. She was part of a group of 1,000 people who hitchhiked to Morocco to raise money for Link Community Development, a charity that funds education for poor children in sub-Saharan Africa.
Now resident in the USA, Sarah Bass nee Bedford, who left in 1982, brought her mother and daughters to visit her old school. Also returning from North America was Anne Gillibrand, now Mrs Brailey. She left Westonbirt in 1949 and emigrated to Canada, apparently inspired by a Westonbirt lecture on the subject!
Checking in from India was Susie Griffiths-Jones. She now works in India and came back to tell us about her recently published book.
We also welcomed back the descendants of Miss Angela Mason, who had been Westonbirt's first ever Deputy Head. Her daughter, Mrs Joanna Rigg, and her granddaughters, Marion and Katie, were curious to find out more about the school.
