All girls in Main School (i.e. Years 7-11) must wear school uniform during the school day. Boarders may change into “mufti” (their own clothes brought from home) after lessons have finished.
Sixth formers do not wear a uniform but are expected to wear businesslike clothes including a smart skirt and jacket. They must have a skirt suit for formal occasions.
Our school uniform is maroon and grey. These have been the school colours since the school was founded in 1928, but the uniform has been completely changed over the years to match modern trends and to use new, more modern fabrics. The basic uniform is a plaid kilt and a burgundy jumper, worn over a long sleeved cream blouse in the winter and a white short-sleeved blouse in the summe.
All our school uniform is available from our own Uniform Shop run by Dorchester Housemistress Miss Gill Fry. During term time, it is open at fixed times each week to enable girls to order new items as required, with their parents' consent. It is also open, by appointment only, in the week before the start of each academic year for new girls to be fitted out with everything they need.
