Help with School Fees

If you need help to pay your school fees, you may like to apply for one or more of the scholarships, bursaries, allowances and other grants available. We consider each year’s applicants on an individual basis and provide scholarships for special merit and bursaries for proven financial need. We also offer allowances for certain kinds of pupil e.g. daughters of the clergy or serving members of the British Armed Forces. There are also other sources of grants and allowances which provide in effect a discount against your daughter's school fees. Below is a summary of each of these types of financial support and our Registrar and Bursar will be happy to advise you further. All candidates for scholarships or bursaries must first be registered with the School.

Scholarships
Scholarships are available for those entering Years 7, 9 and 12 and these are given for Academic Excellence, Art, Drama, Music, Organ, Sport. These are each worth up to 25% of the current fees. Scholarships may be topped up with bursaries (see below)

Bursaries
All bursary applications must include a full statement of the parents’ financial status and each will be considered in complete confidence and solely on its merits: it is not influenced by the candidate’s abilities. Bursary application forms are available on request from the Bursar or the Registrar.

Allowances
The daughters of serving members of HM Forces are eligible for a reduction in fees of up to 20%, according to the parents’ circumstances. Members of the Clergy are also entitled to a discount of up to 30%, subject to parental status, because we are a Church of England Foundation. There is also a siblings allowance, which means that when two or more sisters attend Westonbirt, a discount of 5% is made for the second and 10% is made for the third.

Grants
There are various external bodies such as educational charities and livery companies that fund grants for pupils in various circumstances and for different year groups. These can be used to top up whatever the School can make available. You may find links to these on the Links page of this website.
