Admissions Procedure

When do girls join Westonbirt?
Most girls join us in Year 7 at the age of 11 or in Year 9 when they are 13, but they are also welcome in Years 8 (aged 12), Year 10 (aged 14) and in the Sixth Form (aged 16+ for Year 12 entry).

Main School (11-16)
If your daughter joins Westonbirt aged 11, she will join our Year 7 House, Beaufort, where she will be introduced to life at Westonbirt and where she can begin her boarding career, or get a taste of boarding life as a day girl who can stay overnight once a week with her friends. She may stay extra nights by arrangement as a flexi boarder.

If your daughter joins in Years 8, 9 or 10, she will go into one of three main school houses – Badminton, Dorcester or Holford. Whichever she belongs to, she will soon become fiercely loyal, especially at times of inter-house competitions!

Where do our pupils come from?
We welcome girls from all kinds of school, whether private preparatory schools or state primary or secondary schools, often on the recommendation of their Heads.

We have our own prep school, Rose Hill Westonbirt, which shares our facilities, but many more girls come from other schools. Currently among our top feeder prep schools are Beaudesert Park, Leaden Hall School, The Elms, Hatherop Castle, Hanford School, Godstowe School, Tockington Manor School, Hopelands Preparatory School, St Margaret’s Calne, Kitebrook House, Abberley Hall, Airthrie School, Cameron House and Garden House. Local primary schools such as Leighterton and Sherston and secondary schools such as Sir William Romney School are also significant feeders, but the full list is too long to put on the website!
